Privacy Policy

Halal Halves Ltd ("we") is the data controller for personal data processed via halalhalves.com and halalhalves.co.uk. We are committed to protecting your privacy in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Data we collect

• Account: name, email, gender, date of birth, password (hashed).
• Profile: bio, deen level, madhab, prayer habits, location (approximate lat/lng), photos, voice/video introductions.
• Wali: name, email, phone (only if you provide them).
• Usage: matches, messages, subscription and referral activity.
• Payment: handled by Stripe; we store subscription status only.

Lawful basis

We rely on your consent for optional data (location, media), the performance of a contract for account and subscription data, and legitimate interests for platform safety and moderation.

Sharing

We share data with: Stripe (payments), Resend (transactional email), and Emergent Object Storage (media). We never sell your data.

Retention

Active account data is retained while your account is open. On deletion, personal data is removed within 30 days, save for records we are legally required to retain (accounting up to 6 years under UK tax law).

Your rights (UK GDPR)

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Contact privacy@halalhalves.co.uk. If you're dissatisfied, you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

We use a session cookie for authentication and localStorage for tokens. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
